Flavour of Aberdeenshire Tours
Each tour takes you to a different part of Aberdeenshire and offers different experiences
Tour prices include the Castle Tour and Distillery Tour specified. Distillery tour upgrades are available at additional cost, subject to availability and by prior arrangement as these tend to operate at specific times of day and must be pre-booked.
Tours allow for coffee/lunch stops but exclude any food and drink consumed unless stated otherwise. In all cases, the cost of alcoholic beverages is excluded.
Prices quoted allow for guests to be collected from/returned to, accommodation within 18 miles of Aberdeen City Centre (includes Banchory hotels, Meldrum House Hotel and MacLeod House at Trump International Golf Links).
Distilleries will allow children from the age of 8 upwards to participate in certain tours, as long as they remain supervised by one of the party they are travelling with – it must be remembered that distilleries are work place environments where safety considerations are paramount.
To comply with Scottish Licencing Laws, no alcohol will be served to any person under the age of 18 years.
Royal Deeside Experience
You will be collected from your accommodation and travel to Balmoral Castle for a conducted tour after which you will have time to enjoy refreshments or lunch before travelling the short distance to Royal Lochnagar Distillery which has been in production for some 170 years and which has enjoyed royal patronage.
You will be a guest on the Distillery’s Reserve Tour and have time to browse the Distillery shop before a leisurely journey back to your accommodation completes your excursion.

Between them, Glen Dronach Distillery and Fyvie Castle have been around for almost 1000 years and this tour lets you delve into the history of these two old masterpieces. On collection, you will be driven to Fyvie Castle, where you will enjoy a tour of the castle and grounds and see the superb collections of furniture, armour and paintings and possibly endure a supernatural experience though it must be emphasised that appearances by the ghost are at the ghost’s sole discretion and so are therefore unpredictable.
You can then enjoy a snack or light lunch in the castle’s Taste of Scotland tearoom, which features local produce and recipes, proudly baked and cooked in the castle kitchens.
Back in the Bentley, you will be driven through the countryside to Glen Dronach Distillery where you will join a Premium Tasting Tour, after which you will have the opportunity to fill your own bottle of whisky as a unique souvenir of your visit there.
After leaving Glen Dronach, you will journey back to your accommodation, which concludes the tour.

Old Castle and Old Timers
Craigievar is described as a fairytale castle and you will understand why when you see it as it is essentially the same as it was when built in 1626 with its picture book turrets.
After being collected from your accommodation, you will travel to Craigievar Castle for a guided tour after which you will journey onwards to Alford for a refreshment /lunch stop either in the town or within Grampian Transport Museum (price of admission included), which is one of the finest in the country and uniquely for Scotland, owns examples of an Argyll, an Arrol- Johnston and an Albion all of which were Scottish built.
A drive through the picturesque Howe of Alford to your accommodation completes your tour.

Cask to Cask
After being collected from your accommodation your journey takes you on a gentle climb through rolling countryside to Dufftown, 249 metres (816 feet), above sea level and on to Speyside Cooperage near Craigellachie for a tour of a working cooperage where a viewing gallery allows you to watch casks being reconditioned prior to despatch to distilleries for filling with newly distilled spirit. The cooperage has a gift shop and cafeteria where you can enjoy refreshments or a light lunch before resuming the tour with a short detour to view Thomas Telford’s magnificent cast iron bridge which crosses the Spey.
Leaving Craigellachie, you travel along the Fiddich and Deveron valleys, skirting the foothills of the East Grampian mountains before heading North east to Glen Dronach Distillery where you will join the Distillery’s Premium Tasting Tour, after which you have the opportunity to fill a bottle of whisky and browse in the Distillery’s shop before your returning to your accommodation.

The tradition of Afternoon Tea, reputedly started in the 1840s, has made a comeback but with much updating. Each of our selected hotels offerings include succulent and satisfying freshly made sandwiches, home baked scones with jam and cream, cakes and petit fours together with a choice of teas and coffees and to whet your appetite – a glass of champagne!
Your party of up to three people will be collected and driven to your choice of hotel ( subject to availability), where you will be able to enjoy your afternoon tea in a lovely wood panelled lounge set in idyllic rural surroundings (Raemoir House Hotel, Banchory), the recently renovated MacLeod House at Trump International Golf Links or in the relaxing riverside setting of Banchory Lodge Hotel, just yards from the River Dee.
Try to stay awake to enjoy the journey back to your home or accommodation!

Crathes Castle is one of the most popular in the Aberdeenshire and this short excursion allows you to explore the 16th century building on a guided tour and wander through its garden and grounds before retiring to the cafeteria for refreshments or a light meal prior to your return journey.
Prices allow for collection from and return to an address within 18 miles of Aberdeen City Centre and admission to Crathes Castle and Gardens with a guided tour of the castle.

East Coast Trail
If you prefer ruins to roofs, Dunnottar Castle, perched on the edge of the North Sea is one of Scotland’s most recognisable, if not iconic landmarks and over the centuries it has been both besieged and used as a film set.
After exploring the castle and spotting puffins on the adjacent cliffs, you travel to the picturesque village of Gourdon, which remains an active fishing community.
Enjoy a seafood lunch or snack in Hornblowers restaurant which overlooks the harbour – you may even see the fish you eat being landed in front of you.
A leisurely drive back to your accommodation follows your visit to Gourdon.
Prices allow for collection from and return to from an address within 18 miles of Aberdeen City Centre and include admission to Dunottar Castle.

Two Distillery Heritage Tour
Ardmore Distillery, has distilled throughout its near 120 year history, the only fully peated whisky in Aberdeenshire. Glen Dronach Distillery has been in production for almost 200 years and its malts are characterised by a more sherry like aroma – this tour allows you to experience both.
After collection from your accommodation, you will travel through Aberdeenshire’s Garioch (pronounced Geerie ), area towards the village of Kennethmont and Ardmore Distillery where you will learn about the history and its whisky on a guided tour after which you will be able to purchase whiskies from the Ardmore family from the selection of whiskies on sale, before travelling the short distance to Huntly for a lunch/refreshment stop.
Another short journey takes you to Forgue and Glen Dronach Distillery where your guided Premium Tasting Tour is followed by an opportunity for you to fill your own bottle of whisky, before browsing in the gift shop which has a range of Glen Dronach malts as well as other souvenirs of your visit.
The tour concludes with the return journey through Aberdeenshire countryside to your accommodation.
